Trump Tax Break For Millionaires Ended Most Home Office Deductions

 If you were looking forward to deducting the 

thousands of dollars you spent on making a 

home office for your regular job, you can thank 

Republicans for revoking your deduction in the 2017 tax bill.


Many people used to be able to deduct computers 

and even office furniture when you worked from home 

even though you were working at home for a regular 

boss perhaps most of the month.


But the new Trump rule is you can't have a home office 

deduction if you get a  W-2. Only 1099 or those who 

can prove they are self-employed can deduct now.


The Republican test is simple - W-2 no tax deduction.


There used to be strict rules which many people could 

meet but now most new home workers are left out.


Is this common sense? Republicans who don't like people 

out of their control at work, and don't mind massive 

Government debt if it lets a billionaire get a second private jet,

 NOW think feeding the poor is an extravagance we can't afford.


Yes middle class got a tax break at the same time, but 

their tax break was temporary and about to expire.

Does Anyone Still Answer Their Phone?

Today I did my weekly cleanup of phone messages. I change my phone number every two years but the nonsense calls build up to an intolerable level after about 14 months. Today there were 27 saved messages from unanswered calls, some from humans (sort of), a couple from someone speaking Hindustani, and some from computers, all from three companies selling things I would never buy. I live in the country and we know what to do with door-to-door salesmen. Between large hungry dogs and shotguns paired with a backhoe. Climate Change, Too Late To Beg Politicians - Time To Follow The Pentagon And Begin Preparation For The Inevitable.

 As for climate change, I worked on it for decades even in an official capacity as an emergency management coordinator. It is too late to change what will happen by 2050. Politicians simply can't move fast enough, even countries which agreed with the Paris agreement have totally failed to  to meet the goals they agreed to. It is time to stop wasting time, money, and effort on fighting short term climate change and focus our energy on preparing for inevitable financial and social changes we or our descendants will face. Welcome to the restart of CommonSense (someone seems to have captured my URL so you can see the new one here. After extreme censorship was imposed with no warning I could only contact a few AAAS members  because I have your contact info, please share this with others you know.
